March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month with March 25th being Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. Did you know the color green represents Cerebral Palsy? With March being both Cerebral Palsy Awareness month and St. Patrick’s Day, we get to wear green all month long!
Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month is just what it sounds… a month to bring awareness to the physical disability that affects a person’s movements and posture and which over 17 million people worldwide suffer from. One in 500 babies are diagnosed with CP and it is usually found in the first 12-18 months of a child’s life. CP can range from mild to severe with some children’s motor skills being affected more than others. It is a lifelong diagnosis with no known cure; however, research and resources through organizations like Cerebral Palsy Foundation (CPF) give hope!
