Kristin M. Thompson

MSW, Adoption Social Worker

Kristin began working at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh in 1988 and spent over half of her career here as a Birthparent Counselor. Her long history at The Children’s Home also includes 8 years as the Director of Adoption. Currently she serves as The Children’s Home’s Authorized Representative for Search and Reunion services, in which she conducts searches for adoptees, birthparents, and birth siblings. Kristin also provides post adoption counseling, as well as long term open adoption facilitation for birth and adoptive families. Prior to working at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center, Kristin worked as a social worker in a developmental preschool for disabled and delayed children and as a therapist for Catholic Charities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology/Social Welfare at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.
