Counseling Testimonial 1:
Infertility is a difficult road to navigate and we weren’t prepared for the challenges, pain, and uncertainty that it brought. As a couple trying to start a family, while dealing with the burdensome financial obligations of infertility treatments, we knew we needed support in the form of counseling. Finding The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh was a valuable gift we are continually grateful for. We were matched with a wonderful counselor who helped my partner and I work through trip-ups in communication and showed us how to be fully present with one another. The counseling sessions we had with The Children’s Home brought my partner and I closer together. Our counselor was validating, supportive, and kind. He compassionately and empathetically offered guidance in a time when we felt overwhelmed. We were in a transition time, career wise, and The Children’s Home offered us a discount for the counseling sessions that allowed us the time and space to be fully present. The Children’s Home is a priceless resource in our community and we’re beyond grateful for their support.
Counseling Testimonial 2:
The support group at the Children’s Home was there for me when I needed it the most. My husband and I struggled for 6+ years with infertility, and one of the only things I was able to look forward to during that time was the support group. The counselors are kind, thoughtful, and empathetic, and they foster a welcoming environment where individuals in all different stages and journeys can feel comfortable opening up and sharing their experiences with people who can truly understand and empathize. While I did regularly see an individual therapist throughout this time, I found that having the opportunity to connect with other individuals experiencing similar challenges was invaluable and am so grateful for the support group.
Counseling Testimonial 3:
My counselor helped me both individually and through the support group. She is very knowledgeable, compassionate, and was a bright light during some of my darkest days. Erika is skilled with helping people process tough emotions and situations while remaining empathetic, kind, and optimistic. She walks with her clients in a nonjudgmental and respectful manner. Her clients often come to her at the height of their distress and despair and she effortlessly creates an atmosphere of ease, allowing clients to be open from the very beginning and progress quicker. Her specific knowledge and skill set is difficult to find in our area making her an even more valuable resource. Furthermore, it was a blessing that the group and individual counseling were offered free of charge because fertility treatments are astronomical in price and many insurances have little to no coverage which puts a financial burden on couples trying to start a family.
