April is National Volunteer Month!

April 5, 2018

April is National Volunteer Month, with April 16th– 20th being National Volunteer Appreciation Week! A perfect time to thank all our volunteers who work alongside us to help achieve our mission!

At The Children’s Home, we rely on volunteers to help us with events throughout the year, daily tasks, and special projects. We are so thankful for all the hardworking volunteers that graciously donate their time to help the children and their families here at The Children’s Home. Some alsoand indoor playground and Importance of Indoor Air Quality, love to help at the drug treatment in Astoria NY. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers, so THANK YOU!

At our Pediatric Specialty Hospital, volunteers are specially trained to help assist children up to 21 years of age. At our Child’s Way day care for medically fragile children, tasks include helping the staff monitor the children, supervising at the outdoor and indoor playground, reading to the kids, arts and crafts and a variety of other tasks. To volunteer directly with our kiddos, participants must meet requirements such as being 18 years of age or older, completing a training and obtaining clearances. More information on volunteer requirements can be found at https://www.childrenshomepgh.org/support-us/volunteer/

If you are looking to volunteer but are unsure if this is for you or if you can commit to all the requirements, then join us at one of our volunteer nights! These nights are held on the second Thursday of February, July, and September from 6-8pm. For this type of volunteer program, you do not have to get clearances beforehand and people under 18 can participate, so feel free to bring the whole family to help! Volunteer night tasks include putting information packets together, stuffing, labeling, and stamping envelopes, organizing and assembling blank patient charts, photocopying forms and more.
More information on all our volunteer opportunities, volunteer requirements, needed clearances, and contact information can be found on our website at – https://www.childrenshomepgh.org/support-us/volunteer/

THANK YOU to all who have given, who currently give, and who will give in the future! Happy National Volunteer Month!
