Our Family Centered Therapy Approach works alongside families and caregivers to adjust to a family’s atmosphere and needs. Our team of therapists are able to work with our patients daily while inpatient, to optimize patient outcomes and family success.

Services Provided by our Family Centered Therapy Team:

  • Patient evaluation  to ensure a safe feeding plan is established
  • Identify a feeding system and position that is appropriate for the child to maximize safety and progress feeding based on oral skills
  • Work with medical team to transition children from feeding tubes to full oral feeds
  • Work to improve oral motor skill development
  • Work toward independent feeding skills
  • Work to advance children to the next stage of feeding based on developmental skills, such as moving from bottle to first foods
  • Provide parent/caregiver training and coaching on feeding techniques, development, and safe feeding practices
  • Collaborate with medical staff to identify barriers and obstacles to feeding and make appropriate recommendations for referrals
