Matt and Todd

Hello! We are Matt and Todd. Growing up gay, we both felt out of place and uncomfortable sharing our whole selves with those around us. So as parents we will create a home where differences, diversity and self-expression are celebrated. We plan to discuss adoption with our child from the beginning which will include respecting and honoring your relationship with your child.   We’re comfortable with whatever level of openness you’d like to have and will remain flexible allowing you to take the lead in defining our relationship after adoption.

We met five years ago while living in Washington, DC through our involvement with LGBT sports – Matt with running and Todd with swimming. On our first date, we escorted a drag queen in a pageant, dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr Seuss.  Yes – that happened.  Funny story and we’d love to tell you more about it.  We instantly connected on our values of family, friends, communities, and fitness.

Why Todd is Special (written by Matt)

Todd has focused his career on serving communities in need.  His huge heart is one of the first things I fell in love with.  Todd works as a registered nurse helping patients through drug and alcohol rehabilitation.  He is the most patient person I know. He’s from Pennsylvania and easily convinced me that Pittsburgh would be a great place for us to raise our family. Todd loves language and culture, has lived in Mexico and Brazil, and speaks Spanish and Portuguese. Todd’s heart, patience and passion for culture are going to make him a great dad.

Why Matt is Unique (written by Todd)

Matt embraces life more passionately than anyone I have known. I love being with Matt each day, observing him elevate everyone around him with a positive, encouraging outlook, a huge smile and Southern charm. He naturally leads groups through any challenge. At work, Matt is a researcher at a global tech company – adapting technology to improve daily life. His loyalty to others propels him at work, surrounds him with lifelong friends, and grounds him to his family. His running group will not do any race without him. My family loves him more than they love me, and I get it. I can’t wait to see him encouraging his child. It’ll be his best role yet.

Our Family Values…

Perhaps more than anything our commitment to family brought us together. Matt’s family is large and loud. Todd’s family is small and quiet. Together we have 3 siblings and 9 nieces and nephews – all excited about our adoption. Spending time together is a priority for us.  We enjoy simple things like having dinner together, taking walks, and cuddling on the couch.

We promise to encourage a sense of curiosity about our community and the world. We strongly believe that every child is born with inherent worth and dignity and will embrace a child of any race or ethnic background.  As parents, we promise to take active steps to connect our child to their culture.

We know you are looking for a wonderful home and future for your child.  Thank you for taking the time to read about us and our dream of growing our family.
