We are…
Hal and Anne Clair. We met in Pittsburgh and immediately were attracted to each other’s sense of humor and generosity. Both of us have dedicated our lives to children, Anne Clair as a teacher and Hal as a coach, and ever since we were met in 2008, we have been excited to take the next step to building our family together. The opportunity to adopt is an honor and we look forward to cherishing and caring for the child who will come to us.
About Hal
I was born and raised in the east end of Pittsburgh, and I attended Miami University of Ohio for college. After graduating, I lived in DC for six years and worked various commercial real estate jobs before moving home to Pittsburgh to work for and run my family’s business. In my free time, I have been a volunteer basketball coach in my community for the last 20 years, coach at a local private school and started my own nonprofit basketball organization. Coaching is my passion, I love working with kids and helping them grow into fine young adults. My former players are like family to me. In addition to coaching, I also enjoy watching and playing sports, listening to music, watching movies, keeping up on news, walking our dog, and spending time with my wife and our friends and family. I look forward to the day we can add a child to our family and share all the love and support we have to give.
About Anne Clair
I was born and raised in the DC area to two wonderful parents and a great younger sister. After graduating from college, I moved to Pittsburgh to teach and I find my work in my school very rewarding as it allows me to engage with families and colleagues from all walks of life, keeps me on my toes, and cultivates long-lasting relationships with students and parents. When I’m not in the classroom or working at school, I love spending time with Hal, hiking, reading, traveling, listening to and creating music, taking glassblowing classes, and rooting for Hal’s basketball teams. Having a child would make each of these experiences even more meaningful, and add an additional, deep purpose to my life.
Our Values & Interests
Our family and friends are very important to us, and we look forward to our child having many extended aunts and uncles who will cherish him/her. It is important to us to raise a child with courage and resiliency, love of nature, compassion for others, and a sense that his or her actions and decisions matter.
Our interests as a couple and as individuals are broad and diverse, but whatever we do, it is with humor and joy. We spend time discovering new restaurants in Pittsburgh, attending sports and theater events, laughing, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Individually, we are strong willed people and together our differences complement each other and make us a stronger couple.
