|Fun fact about your family: We speak multiple languages in our house
As parents, we can’t wait to: play in the woods in our backyard, swim in our pool every summer, and read bedtime stories every night
A little over 6 years ago, we met at tryouts for a local volleyball league in Pittsburgh. Andy was immediately attracted to Tim’s athleticism and Tim was drawn to Andy’s (extremely) high energy. On the first date, we learned we were yin and & yang for many things, but having kids was something we both wanted and kept the date alive. Since then, we have never been apart and have learned to appreciate and celebrate our differences. We bought a house in one of the best school districts in the country (North Allegheny), we got married on the lookout in Mt. Washington, and we live everyday with love and laughter. We have everything we need -except kids to take care of, to play with, to smother with love, to ensure that they grow up happy and healthy and successful, and all the other adventures of raising a child.
Andy was born in Los Angeles and moved to Pittsburgh 7 years ago to be closer to his sister. He had a Christian upbringing and spoke Korean early in his life (English is technically his second language). He minored in Music and he loved to play the piano when he wanted to escape from reality. After college, he taught high school science in an inner-city area of Los Angeles before he attended medical school to become an Emergency physician.
Andy loves eating, especially desserts! He likes traveling to different parts of the world, playing volleyball, shopping, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and dancing. He is always at the center-of-attention on the dance floor, especially at weddings. He unwinds by watching reality TV shows like The Real Housewives (Beverly Hills and New York) after a long day at work. His favorite holiday is Christmas and he plays Mariah Carey’s song “All I Want for Christmas is You,” all year long! His younger sister just delivered a baby girl in October (2018) and he can now add the title “a spoiling Uncle” to his resume.
Tim is the youngest of three and grew up in the countryside outside of Pittsburgh. He spent his childhood playing outside and helping on the extended-family farm, but after college and grad school, he now works at Carnegie Mellon University as a director of student engagement and reunion programming for alumni.
An avid volleyball player, if Tim isn’t on the courts, you can find him cooking or baking in the kitchen, gardening in the backyard, building something for the house, or reading science fiction by the pool. He also enjoys eating and watching movies to relax during busy times of the year. As the more reserved one in the relationship, you won’t find him in the middle of the dance floor like Andy, but you can find him doing lots of other fun things -skiing, scuba diving, white water rafting, horseback riding, and more.
Andy’s parents uprooted their lives in California and moved to Pittsburgh to be close to him and his sister. In fact, Andy’s parents live in our basement! With built-in babysitters, Andy’s flexible work schedule, and Tim’s ability to work from home one day a week, someone is always at the house to provide continuous child care. With this nurturing environment, (y)our child will grow up loved beyond comparison and happy beyond belief. We will laugh every day, we will play every day, and we will enjoy what life has to offer. We will share basic Christian life lessons and teach respect, kindness, and confidence. Most importantly, our child will be loved, and our one goal is to ensure that our child(ren) grow up to be successful and can make the world a better place.
