Counseling for Donor Conceived Individuals

  • Contact Us

The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh is excited to pioneer this new service of providing counseling for donor conceived individuals. With our strong background in counseling adopted individuals, The Children’s Home’s master’s level counselors have extensive experience in working with individuals struggling with not knowing a piece of their genetic history, wondering if they should make contact or search, or trying to figure out how this might impact their identity.  We are happy to talk to you about counseling for yourself or anyone who might be struggling with similar issues due to being conceived via sperm, egg, or embryo donor, and welcome you to reach out to us to talk further about your specific situation.  Services range from single consultation to ongoing support and are offered on a fee-for-service basis for $50.  Discounted services may be available on a case by case basis.

For more information about The Children’s Home’s Counseling services, contact Erika Schmitt, Director of Adoption and Permanency Services, at 412-441-4884 or eschmitt@chomepgh.org
