Dear Birth Parent,
We are excited for you to learn about us through our letter and through open adoption. We are open to a child from any race and are very aware of the impact race has on the world of adoption and in our world at large. It is our hope, first and foremost, to be caring and devoted parents to any child that we are honored to call us mom and dad.
We want to acknowledge that this child you’ve carried within you carries your story and your family’s story with them, you are their first mother. Honoring that story is one of the most sacred things we are humbled to be the steward of while this child you have carried grows with us. We are excited and honored beyond measure.
Our Family – Our Journey
We originally started to grow our family in 2015 with a 17 year old foster daughter who we adopted in 2016. Shania, our 22 year old daughter, is a wonderful part of our life but when she moved out of our home with her daughter, our granddaughter, we realized we wanted to experience parenthood and grow our family with a baby.
While infertility is part of our story, adoption was always something we’d considered. We’ve been together since we were 19, we met at college in North Carolina and are still learning and growing and falling in love all over again every year since. We value growth and creating community where you are planted, and while we aren’t from Pittsburgh we’ve certainly made it our home and grown community here.
