Alissa

Dear Birthparent,

Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile. I am so excited to be adding to our family! I hope this information will give you a good idea of who we are as a family and what kind of parent I am and will be for another child.

My promise to you, if chosen as an adoptive parent, is my love and devotion to the happiness and wellness of your child. My hope is that you will know every day that your child is loved, cared for, and is growing up in a secure and stable family. I look forward to an open adoption relationship, at your level of comfort, so that our child will always know how much they are loved. While every situation and life circumstances are different, I am open to including you in periodic visits, FaceTime calls, photos, and/or school events. While I cannot imagine the decision you are facing, I sincerely admire your strength and resilience.

Why adoption:

I have always wanted to be a parent; it has always been a lifelong dream and adoption has always been part of that for me. I am the oldest child in my family and was the primary caretaker to many family members and friends throughout my life. I always understood the importance and the valuable responsibility of being a mother. Always planning for it, thinking about it, imagining it, but I have not found a lifelong partner yet, and it was this journey that led me as a single person moving towards parenthood. In 2018, I was extremely fortunate to get pregnant and have my son, Austin, as a single parent by choice. He has been the greatest of life’s blessings and I know he would make a wonderful and loving big brother. As he has gotten older, Austin has often asked about having a sibling. My life has been blessed to have my son, and I am at a point in my life now where I am so excited to continue my parenting journey and add to our family. While I was not able to get pregnant again on my own, I look forward to sharing my love and life with another child through adoption. I am open to adopting a child of any ethnicity, race, or gender.

A little about me:

My friends and family describe me as nurturing, loving, empathic, funny, sarcastic, and emotionally and financially stable. Sometimes I have even been known to have impromptu dance parties – even if it is to “Baby Shark.”  I know, based on my experiences and who I am, that I will continue to be a mother who is devoted to our child. I love spending quality time with my son visiting local parks, festivals, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, Children’s Museum, and Carnegie Museums. I own a single-family home just north of Pittsburgh. Our neighborhood has many children, and we enjoy bicycle rides and activities with our friends.

As a doctor in the Pittsburgh area, I love getting to know my patients and their families. I really enjoy my work! My work schedule offers flexibility which gives me the opportunity to be an active parent, caring for my family on sick days and giving my child undivided attention. We love puzzles, cooking, reading books, the playground, swimming, and doing evening activities after school and work.

I am friendly, fun, practical, and down to earth. I love to laugh, have fun, and share stories and updates with close friends and family. In my spare time, I love watching and participating in sports. I value education and love the school program Austin attends. I get daily updates about what he is learning including sign language and Spanish. Additionally, I look forward to quality time-off from work and enjoy traveling and learning about new countries, cultures, and traditions. I appreciate diversity and want to celebrate it! I hope to pass my joy of cultural differences and travel onto my children.

Family:

My mother was a special education teacher, who passed away 10 years ago. I am grateful to her for giving me many of the caring maternal skills and instincts I use daily now as a mother myself. My father is now remarried and has created his own grandfather name, D.O.G. (Dear Old Granddad). They love their life as grandparents! I have one sibling, a younger brother who travels often for work. He enjoys skiing, mountain biking, boating, and has 2 puppies. While cherishing his role as an uncle, he travels back to Pittsburgh often for visits to spend time with us.

Although we have a small immediate family, we love spending time together with our larger extended family. I am fortunate to have longtime friends who are family to me. We love to travel together and find new adventures.

Thank you:

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I admire and respect you for considering this difficult and loving decision and would love to learn more about you or answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact me at alissaadopts@gmail.com and/or by contacting The Children’s Home and Lemieux Family Center at (412) 736-2908.
