Shake Your Booties Tenth Anniversary Success

On Saturday, March 19, over 350 guests arrived at  Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse to shake their booties for The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center’s 10th annual signature event, Shake Your Booties. Thanks to the generous support from our sponsors and attendees, this year’s Shake Your Booties event raised nearly $210,000 for the programs of The Children’s Home.

Event co-chairs Georgette Pascale, Rob Lepre, and Julie Kline did a phenomenal job in the planning and execution of the evening’s diamond themed event, transforming the steakhouse into a diamond filled ballroom. This year, with the addition of outside seating, a dance floor, and the musical styling of The In Transit Band, guests enjoyed one fabulous party.

The event began with a VIP Champagne Reception and appetizers, followed by sumptuous buffets for all guests. The hospitable staff of Hyde Park once again provided excellent service – not to mention exceptional food – for all attendees. There was also an opportunity to win a diamond in the Diamond Champagne Raffle, sponsored by Henne Jewelers.

A short program, led by The Children’s Home CEO, Pamela Schanwald, and Board President, Chuck Vater, recognized honorees from the past ten years of Shake Your Booties, including Dave and Nancy Malone, Jay and Ranny Ferguson, Tony and Margie Liberati, Dr. Fred and Katy Sherman, Elin Roddey, and Elizabeth Hobbs. Also, former hospital parent, Jason Luhn, was gracious enough to talk about their family’s experience at The Children’s Home, with their son, Bennett.

While the online auction closed successfully at noon, the silent auction tempted patrons with fantastic offerings made beautiful by Logistics Committee chair Stan Adamik. The exciting items offered at the event , and in the online auction, were secured by the Auction Committee under the leadership of chair, Allison Yeske. Combined, the auctions raised $20,000.

A highlight of the event was the Mario Match Hour, during which any donation made to The Children’s Home was matched dollar for dollar by The Mario Lemieux Foundation. This exciting addition raised $18,700 at the event.

A very special thank you goes out to everyone who helped make the event such a great success! It is through the support of our gracious sponsors and supporters that we are able to continue offering the very best care to the children and families we serve.
