On July 5, 2011, The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center was delighted to have a very special visitor, David, a former Pediatric Specialty Hospital patient who returned to share his success story. David's mother, Cristie, of North Versailles, held David as she told of how her brave little boy fought for his life. David was admitted into The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center for the entire month of June and released early last July 2010. While at the facility, David was attached to a tracheal tube and a ventilator and weighed just under two pounds.
Just one year later, at 18-months, Cristie stands David down in the halls of The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center, where he takes off running and reaching for the camera. David and his family bring our staff, other parents and children hope and encouragement to keep going. He is such an inspiration to all children and their parents who have endured, or are currently coping with similar challenges.
Thanks for the visit David...come back soon!
