Car Smash Benefits The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center

On Friday, January 16, 2009, freezing temperatures didn’t stop Steelers fans from heading down to the Southside Works for the “Bird Bash” car smash. Patrons were asked to make a donation towards The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center for the opportunity to take a swing at a car painted with the Baltimore Ravens’ logo.

B94, Y108, and Star 100.7 hosted the event in hopes of gearing up fans for the AFC Championship game against the Ravens and to provide The Children’s Home with a bit of mid-winter cheer with a kind donation. Fans of all ages, including young children and local firemen, participated in the event while on-air radio personalities, Kobe, Wookie, and Johnny Hartwell cheered them on.

Over $600 was raised for the organization as supporters took swing after swing at the car between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. By the end of the day, little was left of the dubbed “Balti-Moron Mobile” which suffered losses of both bumpers and windshield.
