Read Across America at Child's Way

On March 2, 2009, Child’s Way was treated to a very special visit. In honor of “Read Across America Day,” three members from the Americorps literacy division joined the children for a story.

Equipped with stuffed animals representing characters in the stories, Rebekah Cook, Marta Heberle, and Valerie Lutz entertained the toddler and preschool classes with books such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle, and Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?, by Bill Martin, Jr.

All of the kids had a wonderful time listening and could not wait to talk about the animals they liked the best. The peacock from Mr. Martin’s book was undoubtedly the favorite.
