Katy and Paul
Hello, we are Katy and Paul. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We hope it gives you an idea of who we are, what our life is like, and the kind of family your baby would be welcomed into, should you choose us as the adoptive parents of your child.
We have been married for 12 years. We actually met in high school and have been together ever since! Although it took us a few years to actually walk down the aisle, we both realized, pretty early on, that one day we would be married and have a family. We have not been able to have a biological child, but we have always talked about adopting children, whether or not we had children of our own. After a very difficult pregnancy and eventual miscarriage, we have easily decided that adoption is our only choice to start a family.
Katy is an elementary teacher, who currently works as a learning support teacher for a local learning center. Paul works in the IT field and has worked for the past 13 years at a large corporation in the Airport area. Katy plans on only working part-time and Paul's schedule will allow him to be home some days during the week. When childcare is needed, the baby will be cared for by family members.
We were both born and raised in Pittsburgh, although Paul spent a few years of his childhood in Buffalo, New York. We currently live in a suburb north of Pittsburgh, in one of the best school districts in the area. We love being outdoors and we can usually be found walking in the park, working in our yard, or just playing catch in the backyard with our dog, Riley. We are huge sports fans and love attending Steelers, Pirates, and especially Penguins games. Paul actually plays ice hockey once a week for a local adult league! We also enjoy spending time with friends, and often get together for dinners, picnics, and weekend getaways.
Our families are a very important part of our lives, and your child will be raised in a large extended family that includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins ... lots and lots of cousins! In fact, several of our cousins have actually adopted children themselves and we have seen firsthand what an amazing experience it has been for all of them. We are both one of four children and feel fortunate to consider our siblings as our closest friends and strongest supporters. Our parents and most of our brothers and sisters live in the Pittsburgh area, and the rest are close enough for road trips! We spend all holidays and vacations together. We travel to the beach every summer with either of our families and we can not wait to share this with our own child! We have eight nieces and nephews, who we adore and love spending time with all of them. We enjoy attending all of their activities, whether it is a dance recital, hockey game, or First Holy Communion. They are all eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new cousin!
Thank you again for considering us. We know that this must be a very difficult decision and that you only want the best for your child. We look forward to developing an open and on-going relationship with you. If you would like further information about us or are interested in meeting with us, please feel free to contact The Children's Home of Pittsburgh at 1.800.961.7704 or 412.441.4884. They are a licensed adoption agency and a counselor can be reached 24 hours a day.
Sincerely,
Katy and Paul
