Erika Schmitt

Erika is in charge of managing the SWAN Permanency Program at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center, conducting all program management functions as well as providing clinical supervision to all SWAN staff. Erika also does Birthparent Counseling Supervision, supervising the birthparent counseling staff and coordinating the Birthparent Support Group. She also handles a caseload of birthparents and adoptive families, and provides direct SWAN services to children and families as needed. Prior to her position at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh which began in 2006, Erika worked for over 4 years as a Psychiatric Specialty Counselor for an adolescent drug and alcohol research program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. She earned both a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Social Work through The University of Pittsburgh.
