HOMEtown Hero Luncheon

On Friday, November 9, 2012, The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center hosted its inaugural "The Children's HOMEtown Hero Luncheon" in the Lexus Club at Consol Energy Center, in partnership with Jameson's Army. The afternoon included a served lunch, silent and Chinese auctions and a special program by Pittsburgh's own Dr. Jennifer Arnold.

Our featured speaker, Dr. Jennifer Arnold, the medical director of the Pediatric Simulation Center at Texas Children's Hospital and one of the stars of the popular television program The Little Couple, was born with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, or SED, in which a random genetic mutation causes abnormal collagen formation, which led to her dwarfed growth and orthopedic problems.

Dr. Jennifer Arnold with her Hometown Hero Award presented by The Childrens Home of Pittsburgh Lemieux Family CenterDr. Arnold's roots are from right here in Pittsburgh. She completed her fellowship at Magee-Women's Hospital of UPMC, and her residency at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. We were delighted to welcome Dr. Arnold back to The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center, where she made her rounds.

"We were honored to have Dr. Jennifer Arnold return to Pittsburgh for our inaugural fall luncheon," said Pamela Schanwald, CEO of The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center. We hope to continue this event every year, honoring other Hometown Heroes who make a difference in the lives of many."
