Mike and Molly
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and getting to know us as individuals and as a family. We are excited about the opportunity to expand our family and appreciate you considering us to love and parent your child. We are interested in adopting a child of any race and welcome an open relationship with you if that is your desire. We admire your courage and strength while making this loving and selfless decision, and please know we will ensure that your child has the knowledge, appreciation, and recognition of his or her birth family throughout his or her life.
Meeting in high school, getting married at 25, and now being in our mid-30s, we have walked together and supported each other throughout life’s cheerful peaks and strenuous valleys. Throughout all of this, we have helped make each other a better person, spouse, and parent through our common core values of loyalty, laughter, and love. We have picked each other up when we needed it most and proudly celebrated each other’s achievements, cultivating a resilient, loving relationship that is ready to embrace a new child.
We are extremely lucky because both of our families live in Pittsburgh and are a big part of our lives. In addition to our parents and siblings, we are fortunate to have four nieces and three nephews with whom we love to spend time. Our family has already provided us with a loving support system through this adoption journey and all look forward to being a big part of a new child’s life. In February 2014, we were blessed to welcome Sunday (“Sunny”) into our lives. She is a bright, energetic, talkative, curious, and caring little lady. She loves being outside, whether it’s riding bikes or playing at the nearest playground and enjoys playing with her cousins as much as she can. She adores helping Mom and Dad with household projects and hobbies, including cooking, cleaning, and jewelry making with Mom, and watching TV, playing cars, and sorting baseball cards with Dad. We have a family tradition of going on a yearly beach trip with our close friends and Sunny has grown to love the beach and collecting seashells. Sunny cannot stop talking about expanding our family and is so excited to be a big sister!
Being a parent has been the most rewarding and challenging aspect of our lives. We experienced many bumps in the road on the path to parenthood before having Sunny. Throughout this infertility journey, we learned how important being a parent means to us and feel we have so much more love to give to another child. While we are not able to have another baby naturally, we know in our hearts that another child will fit perfectly into our family and adoption is the incredible gift to allow this dream to become a reality.
I come from a family of six, consisting of my mom, dad, two older brothers, and younger sister. Adoption has always been close to my heart, as both of my older brothers were adopted at a young age. Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to grow my family through adoption just like my parents, and this pursuit has led us to you reading our letter!
I attended pharmacy school at Duquesne University and currently work as a Clinical Pharmacist taking care of critically ill patients at a large hospital in Pittsburgh. While I take pride in my job, I treasure my time spent away from work with family and friends. In my free time, I enjoy knitting and jewelry making. I also love to experiment in the kitchen by baking new treats that are enjoyed at family gatherings. While I enjoy all of these pastimes, my favorite time is spent being a wife and mom.
I have lived my entire life in Pittsburgh and have been fortunate to be surrounded by great family and friends. While we all have specific moments that shape our lives, one of the biggest events in my life occurred when my father suddenly passed away when I was 14. This event not only fueled my passion to be a father but it brought me even closer with my mom and sister, who both are a significant part of our life. I attended Duquesne University and majored in English before working in management at a communications company. Seeking a career change, I went to law school and currently work as a real estate attorney. Outside of work, I have many hobbies and love spending time with family and friends. I enjoy reading, writing, playing softball, and, most of all, watching baseball. Each year, I take a baseball trip with a close group of friends to watch the Pirates and visit a new major league ballpark. I treasure my memories of going to baseball games with my dad growing up, and one of my most cherished memories as a parent is when Molly and I took Sunny to her first baseball game. I would be honored to welcome your child into our home and take him or her to their first game as well.
As you experience what we can only imagine is a challenging time in your life, we thank you for reading our letter and hopefully getting a glimpse of our family. We always dreamed of growing our family through adoption and thank you for considering us in helping to fulfill that dream. You have our sincere admiration for your strength and courage, and we look forward to welcoming you into our extended family.
