Noé's Garden of Hope
On Wednesday, May 25th we had an amazing crew of volunteers on hand to install Noé's Garden of Hope, a new butterfly garden at The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center. The garden was made possible by a gift from Jason & Sherry Ott, whose daughter Noé passed away at five months of age due to numerous medical complications. Noé and her parents spent much of her short life at The Children’s Home where the Otts saw many children playing in the yard behind our building. The new Butterfly Garden will serve to honor Noé’s memory and provide place where children in our facility can watch the miracle of life unfold through the butterflies and plants.

We were lucky to get some great press coverage during the installation of the garden with cameras from WTAE-TV on site and reporters from The Pittsburgh Tribune Review. The video below shows the WTAE coverage alongside video we shot of the volunteers working and the butterfly release. The beautiful sculpture you see in the garden was created especially for Jason & Sherry to use in the garden. The daisy symbolizes the innocent souls of children lost and the green of its leaves represents the promise and hope of brighter days ahead. You can view more photos of the garden on our Facebook page.
Next time you visit us, please stop by and see the garden. We're anxious to watch the butterflies play and all the plants and flowers grow throughout the summer. This wonderful gift from the Otts will continue to inspire all of us for years to come!
