National Adoption Month

November kicks off National Adoption Month and The Children’s Home wants to celebrate with you!  With the 2017 theme of “Teens Need Families, No Matter What,” this initiative focuses on increasing national awareness and bringing attention to the need for permanent families for children and youth in the U.S. foster care system. Specifically in Pennsylvania, adopting from foster care is facilitated  through SWAN, the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network.

As a SWAN affiliate, The Children’s Home works with county children and youth agencies, juvenile court judges, foster and adoptive parents, and the Pennsylvania Adoption Exchange on behalf of children who need permanent homes. With over 800 children awaiting adoption in Pennsylvania, The Children’s Home is asking you to get involved. How can you help? It’s easy:

  1. Learn more about adoption from foster care by visiting
  2. Share what you learned with family and friends

Still want more? Attend one of The Children’s Home’s “Adopting from Foster Care Orientation Meetings” held every second Thursday of each month. For more information on meeting dates, visit
