The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center has been fortunate enough to serve the greater Pittsburgh community for over 100 years through our licensed infant Adoption program, Child's Way® Pediatric Extended Care Center, and our Pediatric Specialty Hospital. Every year, we strive to continue providing the very best care to the children and families we serve each and every day.
Children like Jayden.
Born in August 2009, Jayden's MRI scans revealed brain matter loss and severe Schizencephaly, a malformation of the brain and developmental birth defect, which put Jayden at a high-risk for seizures. After six weeks of specialized care in our Pediatric Specialty Hospital, Jayden was ready to start attending Child's Way.
The experienced staff of pediatric registered nurses and child care associates at Child's Way worked daily with Jayden, providing comfort, while monitoring for seizure activity. We also helped Jayden maintain adequate nutrition as well as provided emotional and educational support to his family.
Today, Jayden is a happy, engaging 2-year-old, whose abilities continually surpass the expectations of his Neurologists. Seizure-free since he was three weeks old, Jayden enjoys daily play-time with his friends in Child's Way and loves story and music time with his teachers and friends.
