Chris and Becky
Our History
Becky and Chris grew up together as kids. We were both raised in a small, blue collar town in Northwestern Pennsylvania - the kind of place where you know all of your neighbors, and your parents are, by extension, your friends’ parents too. Our first date was the homecoming dance in tenth grade. We went our separate ways after high school graduation, and reconnected in 2000 when Becky was the nurse attending to Chris’s grandmother in the hospital. We married three years later. After six years of marriage, our commitment to each other remains as strong as ever. Our relationship is filled with love, respect, commitment, trust and fun.
We began our efforts to start a family immediately after our wedding. Fertility difficulties delayed our plans. After two years, and with the assistance of fertility treatments, we were blessed and overjoyed with the birth of our son Jackson. We love being parents to Jackson, but we always envisioned having more than one child. After further fertility treatments were unsuccessful, we happily decided to pursue adoption. We look forward to welcoming a new baby (and a sibling to Jackson) into our loving home.
Chris Describing Becky
Marrying Becky was the best decision of my life. She has a great personality, and you can’t help but like her the first time you meet her. She is genuine, down-to-earth, and “real.” I love that “everyone loves Becky.” Her “snorting” laugh is infectious. Becky is a fantastic mother to Jackson and spouse to me. Her dedication and commitment to both of us are amazing. Becky pays attention to the details of life; as a result, she makes every aspect of life very fulfilling. Her primary role is being mom to Jackson, but she still finds time to work two days a week as a registered nurse on a neurology floor of a large local hospital. She brings the same dedication to her profession as she does to her family. At home, Becky promotes a healthy lifestyle, and places a strong emphasis on exercise and healthy cooking. She is an avid runner, and recently completed a half marathon.
Becky Describing Chris
At home, Chris is a “silly” and fun person. With Chris, every day is a new adventure. He is quick-witted, and can quote just about any phrase from any movie he’s ever seen. Chris is a dedicated father and husband, and he cherishes both roles. Jackson and I are always on the top of his list of priorities. The highlight of his day is when he comes home from work to hear Jackson say “Daddy’s home! Let’s build a tent and play monster!” At work, Chris is hard-working and passionate about his job. He is business attorney and partner in a well established law firm. The law firm and its partners are supportive of its employees. The firm places a premium on the balance between work and family. We consider many of Chris’s co-workers as part of our extended Pittsburgh family. Chris is supportive and sensible, with a strong and unwavering commitment to family and friends. I feel very blessed to have Chris in my life. He makes me a better person.
Jackson
Jackson is a very cool four year old. He always has a smile on his face, and he always puts one on other people’s faces. He is outgoing, inquisitive, very social, sometimes mischievous, but always very happy. He loves to spend time with his two grandmas and papa, Uncle Jason, his best friend Lucia, his friends from pre-school, and the rest of his aunts, uncles and cousins. Jackson enjoys playing his musical instruments and being outside from sunrise to sunset. His new favorite outdoor activity is riding his brand new “big boy” bike. Jackson is very much looking forward to welcoming a new sibling. He is already saving his baby toys for his “new baby brother or sister.”
Family, Friends and Fun
Family and friends are extremely important to us. We both have supportive and loving families (most of whom live within an hour of our home). All have supported our decision to adopt, and are just as excited as we are. We spend many weekends and all holidays with our families and friends. Our favorite family memories consist of our families’ annual Christmas Eve and Fourth of July parties, as well as our annual trip to Florida to visit “Amma and Papa.” Your child would be blessed with the love of many family members ranging in ages from 4 to 92.
Our most enjoyable times are those unplanned events that simply come together at the last minute – hanging out with friends and family, spending time in the woods, riding bikes, and going on adventures. We love going to the movies, and especially the drive-in theater in the summer. We also very much enjoy working in the yard and tackling major home renovation projects (currently, we are remodeling our basement). Our entire family is musically inclined, and many of us play one or more musical instruments. We will surely encourage your child to share in our love of music. Over the last three years, we began attending church regularly (along with Chris’s brother, Jason) and there, we have found a new community of caring and loving friends that have been very supportive of our decision to adopt.
Our Home
We reside in a suburban town near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our town is close to both the city and the country. We frequently take advantage of both city amenities (such as the zoo, the children’s museum, the theater, and sporting events) and country amenities (such as hiking trails, horseback riding, and visiting local farms and nurseries). Our home is situated on a quiet, wooded lot. We enjoy sitting on the back porch in the evening as the wind gently blows through the trees. It is a very peaceful and relaxing setting. Your child would love the endless opportunities to explore the woods and the extra long driveway for bike riding. We live within walking distance of our town’s top-rated public school complex and community center, swimming pool, and library.
As a final thought, our core values are family, friendship, faith, love, openness, laughter, education, work, respect for self and others, self-confidence, and a sense of duty and responsibility. We will support your child’s interests and desire to explore life. He/she will have access to many opportunities such as education, music, travel, sports and many other diverse activities. We will give your child a stable, loving, caring environment in which to grow and thrive. Thank you again for considering us to be the adoptive parents of your child.
