Bob and Kelly

Bob and Kelly

Hi. We are Bob and Kelly.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our letter to learn more about us as you make the difficult, yet loving and informed decision to place your baby with a family.

After years of trying to have a baby, and then failed fertility treatments, we feel that we are finally on the road to becoming parents. We hope this letter will give you a general idea of who we are and what life would be like for your child. We look forward to being able to meet you and answer any questions you may have.

Bob grew up in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, PA and Kelly grew up on a small farm in Greenville, PA. We met while attending Thiel College and married right after graduation. Kelly earned her Bachelors degree in Sociology and is a 5th grade teacher in our local school district. Bob earned his Bachelors degree in Physics and then earned his MBA from The University of Pittsburgh. He became the Controller for an international company and later owned his own company. Currently, Bob works in the finance division of a large retail organization based in Pittsburgh .

We live in Bob’s hometown in a very friendly, family oriented neighborhood. The schools are known to be terrific and our neighborhood elementary school is just 2 blocks from our house. Kids are able to walk to and from school and can even come home for lunch. Our community also offers many recreational opportunities for kids and their families. We are just minutes from the uptown shopping district, the public library, restaurants, recreational facilities and several parks.

We have many hobbies and interests. Kelly loves animals, especially cats. We share our home with two Maine Coon cats, both of whom are loving and playful. Kelly also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes. She looks forward to flower gardening and landscaping every spring. Bob loves listening to a wide variety of music, plays the guitar and takes lessons in jazz and blues. He also has his pilot’s license and is completing additional training in order to earn more advanced certifications. We both enjoy reading, going to the movies, and going to restaurants.

We also enjoy traveling. Bob went on many family vacations when he was young and has great memories of those trips. Both of us enjoy going to the ocean and digging our toes into the sand. We usually take a trip to Stone Harbor, NJ every other summer. Bob started going to the New Jersey shore when he was a baby and this is a family tradition we look forward to continuing with our child.

During the summer, we spend weekends at our house located at Deep Creek Lake, MD , which is a really fun place for both kids and adults. We love to share it with friends and family as often as possible. We both enjoy being around the water and probably spend most of our time while there soaking wet. We both enjoy tubing behind the boat, riding in the boat or riding a jet ski. All of which are things that are extremely popular with any kids that visit. Bob also enjoys swimming and water skiing.

We have a big yard and some woods so there are great places for kids to play and explore. We enjoy playing badminton and volleyball and also like to ride bikes. Cookouts with family and friends have become a weekly tradition. At the end of the day, it’s nice to throw a few burgers and dogs on the grill, sit on the deck, look out over the water and just relax.

Our families are very excited about the possibility of us becoming adoptive parents. They have given us a lot of encouragement and support and look forward to having a new baby at holiday celebrations and other family gatherings. Bob’s brother and his two children live in our neighborhood, so we get to spend a lot of time with them. Bob also has a large extended family that we look forward to seeing at reunions that are held in different parts of the country every other summer. Kelly’s family lives about 2 hours away and we visit them often. Sometimes everyone meets at the halfway point between our homes to have lunch or dinner in order to catch up on everything.

We are committed to providing a loving, nurturing, and stable home to a child and we are looking forward to being able to do all of the things that parents dream of doing with their children. We hope to instill in our child a passion for learning and will encourage them to pursue their interests and fulfill their dreams. We hope to have many family outings to places like the zoo, the aquarium, local museums and Pirate games. We also look forward to just holding and loving a baby, as well as experiencing all the milestones that occur in a child’s life such as first words, first steps and the first day at school. Since Kelly’s job enables her to be at home by 4:00 every day and Bob works for a company that offers a flexible, family friendly environment, we have lots of love and time to devote to raising a child.

We understand how valuable an open relationship can be for everyone involved in an adoption and we are committed to building an open relationship that our birthfamily will be comfortable with. We are working with The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, a licensed adoption agency. If you would like to learn more about us, please contact them toll free at 1-800-961-7704 and ask to speak to a birthparent counselor. Or visit their web site at www.childrenshomepgh.org.

With warmest regards,
Bob and Kelly
